Clarence L. Huginnie, age 87, of Merrillville, IN passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina to Mary Ellen & Joe Huginnie. 

He is survived by his three children: Jene Denise Huginnie, Andrea Yvette Huginnie, Sharon Kathleen Huginnie; two grandchildren: John Clarence Anderson, Benjamin Rice III; and host of relatives and friends. 

He is pre-deceased by his wife and Chicago Assistant Principal: Minnie Huginnie; his parents; two brothers: William & Nathaniel Huginnie; seven half brothers and sisters; and host of other relatives and friends. 

He was a State of Indiana Attorney since 10-15-1982. Mr. Huginnie was a well-educated man, having earned the following: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), North Texas State University, Denton, Texas, 1968; Master of Education (MED) Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio, 1975; Doctors of Juris Prudence (JD) Southland University, Pasadena, California, 1981. 

He was a faithful Unitarian of over 60 years with the First Unitarian Church of Hobart, where he was a past member of the board of trustees and social justice faith in action. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and traveling. Mr. Huginnie served his country in the U.S. Army. 

He was laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. A public memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
