Dr. Elizabeth “Betsy” Latimer Jaffe of New York City died in her home on March 28, 2020, with her husband of 58 years Morton Jaffe at her side.

Betsy was born to Virginia and Julian Lane  Latimer Jr., and grew up in Kingsport, TN with her siblings Julian Lane III, Richard and Gina. She was Valedictorian of Dobyns Bennett High School in 1954.

Betsy was educated at Antioch College in Ohio, was the first woman to receive a Master of Arts from Harvard Radcliffe School of Business, and she completed her doctoral work at Columbia University.

She was the owner and president of Career Continuum (consultants) from 1982-1998, and had years of experience in counseling mid-level and top corporate executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs. Prior to that, she was Catalyst’s Director of Operations and a senior line-manager in retailing.

During the 1990s Betsy wrote an essential resource for working women entitled Altered Ambitions: What’s Next in Your Life (1991, rev. ed. 2000). The book provided a deeper understanding of professional and personal options, and strategies for coping with life changes, for women of the time, and included practical exercises to discover strategic new ways to shape their lives and careers. She was also a contributor to professional journals.

Betsy and her husband traveled the world and enjoyed the sights, sounds and tastes of many cultures.

Surviving family members include her husband, Morton; sister, Gina; brother, Richard (Lynn); sister-in-law, Sherry (Lane); and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family would appreciate contributions to Cure PSP Foundation, 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001.
