Perri Freeman ’15 has won their reelection bid for the Burlington, VT, City Council running as a Progressive candidate.

Freeman, who majored in History at Antioch, ran on a message of uplifting the needs of the community stating, “true representation can only happen when we build policy from the bottom up.”

“I worked have worked with dozens of nonprofit and grassroots organizations since moving to Vermont,” said Freeman. “It was through knocking thousands of doors across the state that I gained invaluable insight into the experiences of those directly impacted by poverty, pollution, and prejudice. Since becoming elected to Burlington City Council in 2019, I have worked with countless neighbors and community groups to bring values of equity and inclusion into our city.”

Freeman was first elected in March 2019 unseating a 19-year incumbent. Freeman, who ran as a Progressive, took the Central District seat from long-time councilor Jane Knodell, who ran as independent after losing the Progressive endorsement.
