The Tipperary Coal Miners Musical \nSet in a 1920s Tipperary\, Iowa coal mining camp\, Are We American? weaves together European immigrant voices into one unforgettable story. Together they face the daily dangers of mine work\, stand shoulder to shoulder in union strikes for safer conditions\, live through Prohibition\, and question old country traditions as they embrace new ones. It asks the timeless question of what it truly means to belong in America.  At its heart\, it’s a story about love and the pursuit of happiness — for family\, community\, and a hard-won sense of home. Brought to life by a cast of local actors and an 11-piece pit band\, it’s a night of theater that will move you\, make you laugh\, and leave you thinking about the families sitting right beside you. It feels urgent\, personal\, and startlingly relevant today. \nAt 95\, Marguerite “Maggie” Delpierre Heston is making theater history with her first-ever musical. The work is inspired by the collective stories her parents\, grandparents\, and neighbors told — including how her French father and Croatian mother met and fell in love in the real Tipperary mining camp.
