Opening on Friday\, October 13\, 2023\, and running through Saturday\, November 11\, the exhibition showcases for the first time a collection of paintings\, prints\, sculptures\, and captivating imagery encapsulating Mia’s journey as an artist and the front woman of the influential band\, The Gits. \nMia Zapata’s artistic brilliance flourished during her time at Antioch College in the mid-eighties\, where she created many of the captivating pieces that will be featured in this exhibition. Beyond her artistic pursuits\, Mia’s role as the lead singer of The Gits marked a significant chapter in her life. Originating from Antioch in 1986\, the band swiftly gained prominence and found their place within the vibrant music and social sub-scene of Seattle\, attracting a diverse array of talents and personalities. \nMichael Casselli\, the curator of the exhibit and a close friend of Mia\, shares\, “This exhibition represents more than a mere collection of images; it is a labor of love\, commemorating Mia’s profound impact on my life.
