Spotlight on Excellence Series: Judge LaDoris Cordell ’70

The Spotlight on Excellence event for June will feature Judge LaDoris Cordell ’70 in conversation with VP for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of History Dr. Kevin McGruder.

This event will center on current protest action to end police violence and ways individual and collective efforts might best be focused at this time.

ABOUT JUDGE CORDELL

Judge Cordell is retired from the Superior Court of California and an Independent Police Auditor for the city of San Jose, California. She is an advocate for improving transparency into police misconduct and accountability, a trailblazer and an Antioch College graduate from the class of 1971. Judge Cordell has received numerous awards and prizes for social activism and breaking race and gender barriers, including the Rose Bird Memorial Award from the California Women Lawyers, the Rosa Parks Ordinary People Award from the NAACP, and she was the Horace Mann Award winner in 2017.
