POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
As Assistant Director of Admission at Antioch College, you will be a leader in identifying and empowering the next generation of changemakers. This role goes beyond traditional recruitment—you’ll shape strategies that align with Antioch’s mission of linking rigorous scholarship with social justice, experiential learning, and community transformation.
You will oversee critical aspects of the admission process while managing a recruitment territory, and developing innovative outreach initiatives. Your work will ensure Antioch attracts students who don’t just seek an education—but want to leverage it as a tool for social change.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES) OF THE POSITION:
- Lead with Mission: Spearhead recruitment strategies that reflect Antioch’s values of social justice, sustainability, and democratic engagement, ensuring every interaction communicates our distinctive educational model.
- Collaborate: Collaborate with the admissions team in equity-centered practices and holistic review processes that honor Antioch’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Strategic Territory Management: Develop and execute data-informed recruitment plans for your territory, with particular attention to underrepresented communities and partnership building with schools/CBOs.
- Innovate Outreach: Design and implement dynamic recruitment initiatives—from virtual engagement to alumni-powered yield events—that showcase Antioch’s action-oriented liberal arts approach.
- Holistic Application Review: Oversee portions of the application review process, ensuring evaluations center on mission alignment as much as academic preparation.
- Data Leadership: Utilize Slate CRM to analyze trends and adapt strategies to meet institutional goals.
- Event Leadership: Coordinate transformative campus visit programs and recruitment events that allow prospective students to experience Antioch’s community firsthand.
- Travel with Purpose: Spend 8-12 weeks annually visiting schools, attending fairs, and building relationships that expand Antioch’s reach.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Deep Alignment with Antioch’s Values: Demonstrated commitment to progressive education, social justice, and the belief that diversity drives excellence.
- Strategic Leadership: 2-4 years in admission/recruitment with experience developing inclusive recruitment strategies and mentoring team members.
- Equity-Centered Approach: Proven track record of outreach to marginalized communities and first-generation students.
- Communication Excellence: Ability to articulate Antioch’s unique model compellingly to diverse audiences—from students to school partners.
- Analytical Agility: Comfort using data (Slate CRM preferred) to inform decisions while maintaining a student-centered focus.
Preferred Experience:
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Familiarity with test-optional and holistic admission processes
- Event/program planning in an educational context
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (all disciplines valued)
- Valid driver’s license (must obtain Ohio license within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel 25-30% time
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Active Engagement: Ability to stand for extended periods at recruitment events and navigate various travel environments
- Digital Fluency: Comfort using CRM systems and virtual platforms to connect with students globally
