Position Summary:

Reporting to the director of communications, the communications manager is responsible for collaborating on, and creating, a variety of communications projects (both print and digital) serving both internal and external College community audiences. This position is also responsible for collaborating across campus to develop and distribute content that supports the College's objectives through press releases, advisories, official College publications, and web media. Due to the nature of this position, nonstandard hours may be required.


  • Content Creation
    • Graphic Design
      • Print Collateral Creation & Collaboration
        • Coordinate with constituents to gather message intentions and goals.
        • Ensure work complies with brand standards and style guidelines.
        • Responsible for communicating with print vendors, and assist in managing projects from proof to delivery.
      • Video / Motion Graphics
        • Ensure work utilizes best practices for video and motion graphics.
        • Create video and motion graphics work by following a creation pipeline, including concept, storyboard, production, post-production, and delivery.
        • Apply accessibility best practices to this work.
      • Social Media
        • Through social media, use and apply creative approaches, audience awareness, and evolving trends to increase engagement and foster community.
        • Rely on social media best practices, strategies, and trends when creating work.
        • Responsible for administration of organizational accounts.
          • Scheduled / campaign posting.
          • Speaking in the voice of an organization.
          • Timely responses & engagement.
          • Apply accessibility best practices to this work.
        • Website Management / Design
          • Responsible for regular and timely updates to the College website.
          • Manage SEO auditing and updating.
          • Execute analytics reporting and data informed strategies for improvement.
          • Give focused attention to accessibility compliance and best practices.
        • Email Newsletter and Email Campaign Management
          • With collaboration, create and deliver internal and external regular email newsletter.
          • Manage event and campaign email design, delivery, and reporting.
        • Reporting & Documentation
        • Other duties as assigned



  • Associate’s degree in graphic design, communications, or marketing is required. (Bachelor’s degree is preferred.)
  • 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated abilities shown in portfolio of work.
  • High level of competency with:
    • Adobe Creative Cloud. (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, etc.)
    • Google Suite.
    • WordPress.
    • Divi.
    • Google Analytics.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism to be incorporated into projects.
  • Familiarity with how to apply brand standards and style guides to work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various types of audiences (internal and external).
  • Experience in Higher Education or Non-Profit organizations a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment with the ability to also work independently when needed.
  • Copywriting abilities a plus.
  • Photo / Video skills a plus.
