Position Summary:The Residence Life Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, live-in professional staff member who shares on-call duty coverage and is responsible for fostering a positive living environment in the residence halls and other student living units across campus. This work is accomplished through implementing activities and services that assist students in their transition to college and reflect the mission and goals of Student Life.
The Residence Life Coordinator works collaboratively within the Student Life department and with other campus partners to proactively engage in building an inclusive living and learning community. Additionally, the Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for understanding, upholding and enforcing college and residence life policies. They also play an integral role in the student judicial process for Level 1 (administrative) conduct hearings and assisting the Dean of Students with all aspects of organizing individual hearings, including generating charge letters, assembling hearing boards, and scheduling hearings.
Duties include sharing responsibility for the supervision, recruitment and training of undergraduate student staff. This includes but is not limited to new resident assistant (RA) training sessions and workshops that will take place during the term and academic breaks. The Residence Life Coordinator will also be expected to develop and facilitate effective programming for students around healthy relationships, anti-bullying, and student leadership development.
There is potential for the Residence Life Coordinator to have a collateral assignment in an area designated by the Dean of Students and determined by campus need. Collateral assignments may include educating students around Social Justice, Community and Civic Engagement, Conflict Management, Time and Stress Management, and Event Planning.

Supervise and train residence life student staff
Serve in on-call duty rotation

Cultivate positive relationships with students and other campus partners
Develop and facilitate relevant community education opportunities for student residents
Contribute to departmental assessment initiatives and assess campus programming/projects
Identify and assess campus and student needs
Manage residential facility needs emergent and ongoing
Advocate for student needs
Provide intentional ethical leadership in all aspects of professional duties
Adjudicate student conduct
Support students from diverse backgrounds including but not limited to gender identities, sexual orientations, socio-economic statuses, cultural backgrounds, racial identities, ethnic identities, abilities, and religious backgrounds
Communicate effectively with students and campus partners
Prioritize and manage multiple projects
Promote understanding of diversity, inclusion, and social justice within the residence halls and the community
Mediate student conflict
Utilize grounded approaches of student developmental theory and/or philosophies to working with students
Provide oversight for Residence Life policies and procedures
Conduct Level 1 investigations where appropriate

Master’s degree preferred with demonstrated ability and experience in the following.
A minimum of one year’s experience supervising student staff members
Understanding of developmental and social issues experienced by college students
Ability to help students work through difficult conversations and situations
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to gender identities, racial identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic statuses, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and religious backgrounds
Experience implementing living/learning educational initiatives
Leadership in developing student outreach and community-building
Awareness of current trends and issues for student affairs and higher education
Experience building relationships with colleagues in campus-wide academic, residence life, and student support divisions
Ability to act as a responsible steward of organizational resources
Evidence of strong facilitation skills
Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
Experience in counseling, higher education administration, college student personnel, or related field
Experience responding to and managing emergency situations as part of an on-call structure
Experience with mediation, restorative justice, or mediating student conduct
Experience in advising student organizations and/or student activities
Commitment to developing cultural competencies
Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience utilizing student development theory
