Position Summary:
The ARC Peer Coach typically will split their time between executing tasks related to ARC and direct student support.

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
The ARC Peer Coach will train to work with students who are seeking support with academic and social adjustment by providing educational assistance and resources. The student worker will be responsible for assisting students in connecting with needed academic resources on a drop-in basis; either monitoring a desk in the area or virtual chat desk. Additionally, individual coaching sessions can be scheduled to provide support for task management, assignment planning, etc. Students will focus work on first year students to support them with building habits including time management, self-advocacy, communication, planning and organization, and building relationships with faculty, staff, peers, and advisors. Plan and execute group work sessions, relevant programming for new students, info sessions/training opportunities for faculty, etc.

Demonstrated Academic Success
This position will require you to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training.

Required Physical Abilities:
Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
Able to lift up to 25 pounds
Movement within and across a historic residential campus

Environmental Considerations:
Position works extensively in an office environment; seated or standing and utilizing standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
Occasional requirement to move around campus, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain experiencing local temperature and weather variations

Hours per Week: 10
10 hours per week, to be split between executing tasks related to ARC and direct student support.
Typically in reserved, regular hours in either a physical or virtual space for students to have free access to.

Term Position is Available:
Fall, Winter, Spring
