You must be a registered Antioch College student to be eligible for this position.
Student(s) will work to revitalize the Alternative library by adding bookshelves and beautifying the space, establishing a book lending program suitable and realistic to the alt-library, re-organize the current collection, remove and re-home irrelevant books, and add books from the Prison Justice Library that have been donated to the alt-library. The Alternative Librarian(s) will reinstate the zine library, keep it updated with student work, and archive and digitize zines so they can be accessed and redistributed by anyone.
Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
The day to day labor of the alt-librarian(s) will be: organizing books, being a general caretaker for the space, making sure books are being returned (according to the lending program created by the student worker(s,) hosting events (perhaps a anarchist or radicalized reading group / book club), and seeking out relevant and new literature by, from and on marginalized voices on marginalized topics; specifically to do with social movements and social justice.
A willingness and desire to engage in radicalized media and caring for a collection of books and zines.
Required Physical Abilities:
Ability to lift weight of over 40 pounds and being able to use the stairs in Weston as there’s no elevator currently operable.
