The Antioch Farm is starting community garden plots for students, faculty and staff of Antioch College for Fall 2020! The Community Garden Coordinator position is focused on coordinating new Antioch Farm community garden plots and caring for pollinator & flower garden areas adjacent to community garden plots. This position may also assist with other tasks that support the overall operations of the Antioch Farm to fill out 10 hour/week expectation.

The Community Garden Coordinator is expected to check in with the Farm Manager regularly to determine weekly tasks and get an orientation to unfamiliar tasks. The Coordinator is expected to work on tasks independently and thoroughly during other work hours.

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
Caring for community garden plot area: clean up common areas, mowing paths, and tilling
Caring for adjacent pollinator & flower garden areas: weeding, mowing paths, watering, etc
Host socially distanced volunteer hours
Communication and coordination with community gardeners and marketing
Practicing and promoting social distancing in garden area
Communicating any problems or concerns related to safety or supply needs
Other projects or tasks that support the farm

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Gardening, landscaping or farming experience (preferred)
Good time management skills
Self-motivation
Ability to work well with others and problem solve
Enjoys physical work
Enthusiasm for what’s happening on the farm & the farm mission

Physical requirements needed to perform the duties of this position:
Candidates must be able to regularly bend over, lift and carry up to 30 lbs, and push a wheelbarrow full of compost.

Environmental Considerations:
Farm Assistants work outside in all weather.

Covid-19 Safety: 
This position is on Antioch College Farm. Employee work in this position is expected to happen entirely outside and socially distanced. Employees are expected to model social distancing, encourage it in other gardeners and report any related concerns to supervisor promptly.
