Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
Documenting racial residential patterns in Yellow Springs using online census records from 1850 to 2010 to understand both the presence of people of African descent in the Village as well as their residential locations over time. The data may be used to create GIS maps.
Creating a database from census data to illustrate the residential locations of people of African descent in Yellow Springs from 1850 to 2010.
Documenting racial residential patterns in Toledo, Ohio using census records at the block level from 1960 to 2010 to understand the presence of people of color in Toledo as well as their residential locations over time. The data may be used to create GIS maps.
Creating a database from census block level data to illustrate the residential locations of people of color in Toledo, Ohio from 1960 to 2020.
Ability to learn Global Information System software to create maps from the data compiled
A general interest in African American History
Able to work independently.
Required Physical Abilities:
Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
Work may be completed outside of office
