Kevin Mulhall assists students and faculty to find information through the resources of the Olive Kettering Library. He provides group and individual instruction in the use of library research tools and services, serves as a writing tutor, and provides instruction and advice on upholding academic honesty. As library director Kevin oversees the daily operations of the library, maintains the library web pages, coordinates the library spaces, and maintains the print collection and catalog.
Kevin studied musicology as an undergraduate at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Japan where he taught English as a second language, concertized as a classical guitarist, and entered guitar competitions. After returning to the U.S. he received an MFA in music from the Purchase College Conservatory (SUNY), returned to Japan to teach English, and eventually settled in Yellow Springs to teach music theory, appreciation, and performance at several regional colleges, including the antediluvian Antioch University. Eventually, Kevin formalized his life-long engagement with libraries by earning an MLIS degree from Kent State University and joined the Antioch College faculty in 2013.
He enjoys engaging students in Japanese conversation, organizing the Antioch Chess Club, and playing the violin and guitar in local ensembles.
- ENG 090 College Writing Skills Through introductory level work in writing for academic purposes, students will learn to cultivate effective language and use to enhance their writing. Specific focused instruction will be in the following areas: using resource material to write and revise essays, organizing and writing essays using a variety of rhetoric modes, proofreading, editing and revising prose to assure clarity, consistency and conformity to conventions of Standard American English, avoiding plagiarism, and providing appropriate documentation of sources. This is a basic skills course that requires a grade of B or higher to pass and does not carry credit toward a bachelor’s degree.
