Antioch College Achieves Historic Ranking on U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 National Liberal Arts Schools. In a historic moment, Antioch achieves its first ranking on this prestigious list since its reopening in 2011, marking a remarkable return to U.S. News & World Report’s college top rankings after an absence since 1991.

YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO –Monday, September 18 – Antioch College is proud to announce that it secured a spot on the prestigious U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 National Liberal Arts Schools ranking.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Antioch College, as it is the first time the institution has achieved such recognition since its reopening in 2011. Under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Jane Fernandes, Antioch College has undergone a transformational journey. Since assuming the presidency in 2021, Dr. Fernandes has worked with the campus and community to develop a strategic direction that fosters a renewed commitment to academic excellence, social justice, and community engagement.

Antioch College’s inclusion in the U.S. News & World Report’s Top 100 National Liberal Arts Schools affirms a dedication to a world-class education that empowers students to become engaged, informed, and socially responsible citizens. This recognition highlights the College’s remarkable progress in delivering on that mission while moving toward financial sustainability with a Social Enterprise and Enrollment Plan. This ranking is the latest indicator of a successful turnaround, including an incoming class that is 25% larger than last year, an increase in institutional grants and student-derived revenue, and a successful expansion of community-based learning and cultural programs from campus learning hubs: a sustainable farm, holistic wellness center, entrepreneurial campus shop, justice center named after Coretta Scott King, and community-oriented theater, gallery, and literary review.

“We are thrilled and humbled by this achievement,” said President Fernandes. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students, who have worked tirelessly to create an academic community that embodies our core values. It also underscores the importance of our strategic plan, which has been instrumental in redefining our institution’s future.” Under Dr. Fernandes’ guidance, the College has achieved significant advancements in curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and student support services. Antioch College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion has been a cornerstone of its strategy, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds.

Antioch College looks forward to continuing its journey of academic excellence and social impact under the leadership of Dr. Fernandes, the dedication of its community, and the guidance of its strategic plan. Antioch has long been a college that changes lives through its pioneering cooperative education program, practical approach to the liberal arts, and a commitment to experiential learning, sustainability, and social responsibility, which has always been central to its mission since its founding in 1850. Now, as it celebrates this exceptional milestone, the college continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s students by fostering an environment where students can explore their passions, engage their communities, and drive positive change in the world.
