Institutional Effectiveness and Research

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IER) collects, analyzes, and distributes institutional data to inform decision-making, evaluation, planning, and policy formation at Antioch College. Specific functions of IER include:

  • Collecting and reporting data as required by the government
  • Providing institutional data to the general public as appropriate (e.g., college search-engine websites)
  • Coordinating campus-wide surveys
  • Ensuring that the College is positioned to meet current and future needs related to accreditation
  • Implementing a system of integrated planning, assessment and evaluation
  • Working with Academic Affairs Assessment Committee to assess student learning outcomes
  • Reporting on progress of strategic initiatives to institutional constituencies
  • Implementing Antioch’s Institutional Review Board and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Before submitting an IRB Application, all College researchers must complete the (free) Health and Human Resources Training provided by the Department of Health and Human Services. You can find additional resources here. Some research sites will require additional training (such as CITI), and, historically, these research sites have provided access. Antioch does not have a paid subscription for CITI training. Additionally, some research sites require both external (Antioch) and internal (their own) IRB review, such as hospitals, prisons, schools, and care facilities.

Applicants must submit evidence that they have completed this training with their IRB application.
