A virtual gala benefit supporting Antioch College Works

The Main Event

Featured Special Guest, John Lithgow

Actor, musician, poet, author, and singer John Lithgow spent part of his childhood in Yellow Springs when his father, Arthur Lithgow ’38, taught theater at Antioch College and co-founded the acclaimed Shakespeare Under the Stars festival.

Lithgow is the recipient of two Tony Awards, six Emmy Awards, and two Golden Globe awards, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards and four Grammy Awards.

During Antioch Under the Stars, John will offer Yellow Springs memories, readings from stellar alumni, and his own book, Trumpty Dumpty.

Master of Ceremonies, Peter Ekstrom ’73

Peter Ekstrom ’73 is a theatrical composer, lyricist, and actor, whose works have been performed Off-Broadway and in theaters across America.

Virtual Bars

Hop into (or between!) “virtual bars” including Com’s, The Gulch, and Ye Olde Trail Tavern at the beginning of the Main Event to gather and socialize with other guests. Or, just hand out on “Main Lawn,” the primary event space.

Honoring Antiochian Stars

At Antioch Under the Stars, we will celebrate and reminisce about the Antioch faculty and staff who nurtured us and inspired us to “win victories for humanity.”

During the Main Event, guests will be invited to visit breakout rooms to honor and share their own memories of influential Antiochian “stars” throughout the decades. Below is a list of hosted breakout rooms with examples of the “stars;” guests will have the opportunity to add their own “stars” to the constellation.

Remembering Your Antioch College Stars

To expand our collective appreciation for the Antioch Stars who transformed our lives, all are welcome to add comments or new names on this Google Doc.

Anyone with the link for this Doc can participate as an Editor, so feel free. Thanks to John A. Knox ’68 who has been very involved with the Gala planning for offering to collect and coordinate remembrances that alums might have about the Stars being highlighted in each of the Breakout Rooms during the Gala, plus any others that alums would like to add for recollection.
