Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities will include management of accounts receivable functions, including revenue recognition (pledges and incoming cash receipts) and coordinating with the Director of Financial Aid on student billing processes. The Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the College by ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and fostering transparency. This position is vital for streamlining processes, minimizing billing discrepancies, and providing clear, timely communication with students regarding their accounts. Through coordination with the Finance team, the Coordinator ensures that payment procedures are efficient and that students understand their financial obligations, thereby contributing to the overall student experience and smooth operations processes.

NO. OF HOURS PER WEEK: 20-25

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Receivables
Manage revenue recognition processes, including cash collections, tuition, room and board, grants, donor gifts and pledges, and similar
Working with departments to streamline processes and accurately capture financial data
Assist with financial reporting processes, particularly for the College’s revenue-generating learning hubs
Prepare key financial reports on a monthly basis
Assist with monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure that financial and operational controls are in place to ensure the accurate reporting of financial data and safeguarding of organizational assets

Student Billing
Process financial transactions for student accounts
Timely delivery of billing statements to students
Manages provision of student health insurance
Frequently collaborates with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the student billing process as it relates to financial aid
Engages in timely, accurate, empathetic, and transparent communication with students regarding their accounts, including account holds, due dates, and changes
May assist with annual budgeting processes and financial audits
Supervise and mentor student workers who contribute to the efforts in this area of the College, including but not limited to: providing guidance, tracking hours and approving timesheets. Student engagement in our work program is integral to their educational experience. Supervisors serve as primary educational role models who provide learning opportunities for students to build workplace skills that are developmentally appropriate and transferable to professional realms beyond the College.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree required, with a concentration and associated experience in accounting and/or finance
Minimum two years’ experience working in finance or accounting function
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains Dynamic financial reporting package
Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet consistent deadlines
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a concentration in and associated experience in accounting and/or finance
Five years’ experience working in finance or accounting function, preferably in a non-profit environment with a strong working knowledge of fund accounting

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Position works extensively in an office environment
Utilization of standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
Ability to keyboard for an extended period of time
Requirement to move around campus, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain in all weather

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
Movement around campus during weather extremes
