Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

These positions provide support to Director of the Coretta Scott King Center. These positions have specific duties that affect the College, including working with staff and faculty from across campus on planning and responsibilities that are specific to the development and implementation of the College and the Center’s mission. Work with other student employees to organize and maintain the student resource room as well as facilitate programming designed to promote student resiliency and forward the mission of the College and the Center. Assist CSKC Director in planning and implementing programming and strategic initiatives that forward the mission of the College and Center.

  • Develop a list of community resources and organizational partners who can be a part of a network of support for students, faculty, and staff on campus.
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate a database of individuals campus-wide who plan and/or coordinate diversity-related events to promote collaboration on those events.Interpret, analyze, and clearly communicate content created through small group discussions and activities with current co-op students at the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom.
  • Represent the Coretta Scott King Center and/or Antioch College at a number of events per instruction of the CSKC Director.
  • Keep regular hours in the center to make sure that the center is open and available to members of the campus and Yellow Springs community
  • Work with director, other staff members, community members, and facilities to maintain the physical space of the center.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experience with and willingness to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
  • Interest in and experience with community engagement, particularly with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Poor/Working Class, and Rural communities.
  • Interest in and experience with racial and social justice as well as thinking critically about and developing action around issues impacting a community.
  • Interest in and experience with creatively using assets in a community to develop and achieve a goal.
  • Curiosity, openness, and willingness to learn.
  • Current Antioch College student in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Project Management experience preferred.

If selected, this position will require you to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training within the first 2 weeks of your job. You will be supplied the link to a short course administered by a third-party vendor.

Required Physical Abilities:

  • Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Movement within and across a historic residential campus

 Environmental Considerations:

  • Position works extensively in an office environment; seated or standing and utilizing standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines.
  • Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally.
  • Occasional requirement to move around campus and in other locations, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain experiencing local temperature and weather variations.
  • May also be asked to help set up tables and chairs, help with event set-up and clean-up, or move books and supplies in the resource room.
