January 8, 2024 and ends on or before March 22, 2024, upon approval of the job supervisor.

The Winter Farm to Table Assistant will spend 10 hours per week at the Antioch Farm focused on caring for our farm animals and their spaces especially during weekends and evenings. They will also spend 10 hours per week supporting culinary and general food service in the Antioch Kitchen.

Essential Responsibilities:
Farm Responsibilities:
Morning & evening animal care
Maintaining animal areas & equipment
Supply monitoring & replenishing
Reporting any problems promptly
Wellness care, as needed

Other projects or tasks that support farm animals Kitchen Responsibilities:
Supports the preparation, completion and execution of meals
Washing, drying and organizing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, equipment and work stations
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at large and kitchen equipment including storage units, areas, floors and food preparation stations
Operate and clean the dish machine
Responsible for the restocking and maintenance of beverage areas, dry goods/cereal area and table condiments
Restocking and cleaning the cereal, fruit and toast making areas
Cleaning the microwave and toaster
Sweeping and mopping floors
Removal of trash and recycling
Completes any task that the chefs ask of them as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Must be reliable, observant, communicative, and able to work independently
Must be available weekends and willing to work outside in all weather
Experience with animals preferred but not required

Physical requirements needed to perform the duties of this position:
Able to manipulate small hand tools
Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time
Must be able to use knives and other equipment for extended periods of time
Heavy lifting, knife work, light cooking, lifting hot pots and pans, must be able to maneuver small spaces while carrying heavy objects
Should be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Environmental Considerations:
Must be able to work outside in all weather
Exposure to steam and very hot/very cold liquids
Will come in contact with garbage receptacles
Will come in contact with soiled plates, utensils and equipment
Will work in a loud environment
Will work outdoors occasionally
Will work indoors frequently
Will come in contact with potential food allergens including nuts/tree nuts, wheat, dairy, soy, eggs Occasional exposure to low level cleaning chemicals
Prolonged standing
