Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
The Antioch Review assistant will work in the office at the Antioch Review as well as virtually to help manage communications and assist with operations for the Antioch Review. Activities may include monitoring and assisting with email communications, tracking manuscript and poetry submissions, responding to inquiries from the Review staff, authors, assistant editors, readers, and others about submission and subscription status, monitoring and assisting with social media, including crafting communications. Tracking down submissions that authors wish to withdraw and other miscellaneous office duties. Assist with website transfer from Drupal to WordPress, including proofing the website and creating and posting materials. Duties may also include stocking journals or merchandise at Antioch and in local stores or providing critical, concise analysis on provided manuscripts/materials as a reader.
The Gallery Assistant assists the Creative Director with exhibition and arts event planning support, creative problem-solving, creative research, punchy social media content creation and distribution of gallery print materials, database creation and input, image-rich file collection and sharing, public outreach campaigns in the daily creative planning and operations of the gallery. \n\nThe Assistant will also help ensure open hours in gallery, serve as a gallery docent by facilitating understanding/interpretation of the exhibition with visitors, participate in the Arts at Antioch Committee and actively assist the gallery director during the “busy times” in the rhythm of the exhibition cycle: de-installation (sensitively taking down works of art, preparing artworks for shipping, deconstructing built walls and objects, patching walls, sanding, painting) and exhibition space planning and installation of exhibitions (learn to measure and calculate placement of works, prepare and hang works of art of a variety of media per artist/gallery standards, organize and format wall text, exhibition statements, install lighting, operate a power drill, climb a ladder, photographic documentation of exhibitions, etc.)\n\nGallery Assistant assists in hosting events, hospitality, assists with visiting artist arrangements and assists with the Artist-in-Residency orientation (pending AIR funding support).

Required Physical Abilities:
Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
Able to lift up to 25 pounds
Movement within and across a historic residential campus
Environmental Considerations:
Position works extensively in an office environment; seated or standing and utilizing standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
Occasional requirement to move around the campus, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain experiencing local temperature and weather variations
