You must be a registered Antioch College student to be eligible for this position.
Peer tutors must be approved by a relevant faculty member.
Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
Tutors work with students on an as-needed basis, unless otherwise arranged with faculty and schedule appointments individually or in groups. Content areas are determined by need and student availability — priorities are for Math, writing, languages, though tutors for other subjects are available. Sufficient content knowledge of a given topic (referred and approved by a relevant faculty member) is required. Students may need to work with related faculty each week to determine items for tutoring, topics from recent classes, and communication about tutoring session successes/needs. Some hours may be set and required each week, as others may be appointment-based.
Qualifications:
must be timely to appointments
complete tutor log to track sessions and topics
communicate directly with related faculty
must be available via email and phone to schedule appointments
should have the ability to use technology to join/host virtual tutoring sessions as needed.
This position will require you to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training.
Required Physical Abilities:
Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
Able to lift up to 25 pounds
Movement within and across a historic residential campus
Environmental Considerations:
Position works extensively in an office environment; seated or standing and utilizing standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
Occasional requirement to move around campus, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain experiencing local temperature and weather variations

Hours per Week: This position is not guaranteed hours, as students work on an as-needed basis and are typically limited to a given number of hours per content area per week. Some hours may be set and required each week, as others may be appointment-based.
