Academic Year round NOT including JA & ND Blocks

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

Student will work directly with peers to support them with building habits including time management, self-advocacy, communication, planning and organization, and building relationships with faculty, staff, peers, and advisors.  Plan and execute group work sessions, relevant programming for new students, info sessions/training opportunities for faculty, etc.  Working within a schedule, maintain and be timely to appointments, communicate clearly with all necessary parties. Additionally, this position will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Student Success and Academic Resources with the following duties:

  • Collecting student signatures, paperwork, and information as needed
  • Sending out scheduled session reminders
  • Managing the peer tutoring calendar
  • Marketing peer tutoring, as well as programing ran by the Center of Academic Student Success (CASS)

Qualifications:
Clear communication, use of basic technology to send emails, schedule meetings, creating training tools as needed. Should be comfortable speaking in a group of students or faculty, maintain positive and supportive relationships with new students on campus. Maintain and execute group work sessions, relevant programming for new students, info sessions/training opportunities for faculty, etc.
This position will require you to complete FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training.

Required Physical Abilities:
Able to sit for prolonged periods of time
Able to focus on computer tasks for prolonged periods of time
Able to lift up to 25 pounds

Environmental Considerations:
Position works extensively in an office environment; seated or standing and utilizing standard office equipment such as networked computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines
Indoor office environment; heated and cooled institutionally
Occasional requirement to move around campus and in other locations, indoors and outdoors, over paved and rough terrain experiencing local temperature and weather variations
