On Monday, the 24th of February, Adam Stein class of ’04 opened his second vintage inspired bowling lounge called ‘The Eleanor’.
As stated in an interview with Source of Spring, Stein first got the idea for “a bowling alley that had elevated food and beverage offerings when he was a student at Antioch College.”
It was this history that also inspired the concept’s name. Stein stated: “We were trying to find something that kind of sounded fun, sounded classy, a little bit unusual. We started off thinking about goofy bowling associated names, but decided maybe that wasn’t the best for the type of place we were thinking about opening.”
While thinking about his District of Columbia connection, Stein thought of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton – Antioch Class of ’60.
“Well, The Eleanor is a cool-sounding name,” said Stein, and so “we just kind of ran with it.”
