David Abeles ’87, a registered nurse who has practiced in Central Texas for 17 years, is one of 3,900 healthcare workers from across the United States who were deployed to New York City. Contracted to work for 21 days, Abeles has worked daily 12-hour shifts to treat patients sick with coronavirus in the city. Abeles specializes in emergency care and has previously served in disaster relief efforts.
