Congratulations to Chelsea Carpentier ’16!

Chelsea will be attending Bastyr University this coming Fall to pursue a Masters in Nutrition/Didactic Program in Dietetics. She wants to obtain her license, expand her practice options, and have the ability to work in a clinical setting. Chelsea is particularly passionate about helping patients with autoimmunity issues. She selected Bastyr school because of its mission and style of teaching are in line with my career goals. They have a whole foods/functional approach to nutrition.

After graduating in 2016 with a Biomed degree, she worked in education while completing yoga instructor and nutritional therapy certification. She then returned to The Wellness Center as a manager and yoga instructor, in addition to teaching occasional group nutrition classes, and served as manager at Yellow Springs Chiropractic.

Chelsea says that co-ops definitely played a crucial role in her decision to become a dietitian. Her co-op experience with Natural Grocers in Lakewood, Colorado probably influenced her decision the most.

Her advice to current students would be to take opportunities when they come and to be patient with the process.

“Sometimes it’s hard to make the decision to go for it, but the experiences that you dislike are just as important as the ones that solidify what you want to do. The more experiences you can get your hands on, the more you get to know yourself and discover what lights you up”.
