The upcoming 2020 Midwest Regional Sustainability Summit will include a breakout panel session led by Shane Creepingbear ’08, Associate Director of Admissions, along with co-panelists Dawn Knickerbocker, Vice-Executive Director at Greater Cincinnati Native American Coalition and former Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations at Antioch, and Jheri Neri, Executive Director at the Greater Cincinnati Native American Coalition. Their breakout session in the afternoon of Friday, August 7, “Indigenizing Colonized Spaces: Building Health and Wealth with Food Sovereignty,” will explore solutions to food access and diet-based health problems by reclaiming ancestral traditions.
The Summit is organized by Green Umbrella, Greater Cincinnati’s Regional Sustainability Alliance, and partnered with the City of Cincinnati, The Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier University, Hamilton County Planning, and Development and the Greater Cincinnati Green Business Council.
The theme of the Summit is “Cities of the Future: Becoming a Regenerative Region,” and the event will take place from August 5 until August 7. The conversation will revolve around how cities can be imagined as regenerative hubs that enhance rather than deplete our natural resources, and promote a vibrant and resiliently build an environment which can support healthy and equitable communities.
