Dr. David Kammler

On Friday, May 28, the Antioch College Board of Trustees appointed Dr. David C. Kammler as the next Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA).

Dr. Kammler will begin as VPAA on July 1, 2021 when current VPAA Dr. Kevin McGruder returns to the faculty to teach full time as a tenured professor of History and pursue his scholarly work.

“I have appreciated the opportunity to lead the Office of Academic Affairs during the last two years,” says Dr. McGruder. “It has been both a challenging and rewarding experience helping to navigate our way through the process of a substantial reduction in our faculty numbers, as well as successfully advocating for the acceptance by the Board of Trustees of the faculty proposal to convert all non-tenure track faculty positions to tenure-track positions.”

Dr. Kammler first came to Antioch College in 2002 serving through the 2008 academic year. In July 2011, he became the third faculty member of the newly independent College and is the College’s longest-serving faculty member. He has been a tenured professor of Chemistry since 2015, served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs from 2012 to 2016, and has served as Dean of Academic Affairs since 2016. He currently teaches Chemistry and Chemistry-related courses for the Biomedical Science and Environmental Science majors, as well as general education courses.

According to the Senior Vice Presidents, “His experience in the Office of Academic Affairs and his leadership and commitment to Antioch make him the ideal candidate to head that Office in the exciting academic year ahead as we prepare to hire and welcome a new President.”
