This event is the first in a series of “Conversations with Social Entrepreneurs,” offered as part of the Meg Hansson Project, that will feature Antioch alumni and other social entrepreneurs discussing what they do, the challenges they have faced, and the preparation that helped them to build their enterprises. The organizations they lead, social enterprises, address a basic unmet need, or solve a social or environmental problem through a market-driven approach. They can be nonprofit or for-profit organizations. Social enterprises typically have a “double bottom line” or a “triple bottom line,” with the goal of profitability, but also additional goals such as providing employment opportunities for a specific population, directing profits toward a particular social good, or meeting a social need.

Three Sisters Kitchen is a community food space in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico that uses the power and love of local food to create economic opportunity, improve community health, and bring diverse communities together around the table. Bennett is also recipient of Antioch College’s 2019 Winning Victories Grant which supports alumni initiatives that impact quality of life, public good, social justice, and the environment in local, national, and international communities.

The Meg Hansson Project is a new initiative at Antioch College named for alumna and serial social entrepreneur Margaret S. “Meg” Walker Hansson ’46 (1922-2016). Meg was a pathfinder, innovator, entrepreneur, and mentor for scores of women and men in business and in endeavors of social entrepreneurship. Through the Meg Hansson Project, Meg’s legacy of inspiring entrepreneurs will live on.The initiative seeks to share information about social enterprises and social entrepreneurship and will offer workshops, presentations, and planned integrations into the College’s curriculum.
