Dear Antioch Community,
Antioch College has successfully completed its ten-year reaffirmation of accreditation visit with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The visit took place over a day and a half, beginning with the visiting team’s arrival on Sunday evening and concluding with the exit meeting at noon on Tuesday. This visit was an extraordinary learning experience, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who took the time to attend one or more of the sessions.
The intensive schedule included meetings with the President, Cabinet, Reaccreditation Task Force, Board of Trustees, CFO, academic leadership, enrollment and financial aid staff, and integrated faculty and staff student support teams. Open forums and drop-in sessions also provided vital opportunities for members of the broader campus community to participate. Throughout these sessions, the team reviewed key accreditation areas, including our mission, integrity, teaching and learning, student support, institutional effectiveness, federal compliance, financial sustainability, enrollment planning, and institutional priorities.
While the schedule reflected the seriousness and breadth of the review, it also gave Antioch a wonderful opportunity to tell our story. Together, we highlighted the enduring strength of our mission, the integration of classroom learning with meaningful work and community engagement, our deep commitment to student belonging and well-being, and the significant progress the College has made in governance, planning, enrollment, and financial stewardship.
Following Tuesday’s exit meeting, the visiting team began their deliberations and report writing. We will soon have the opportunity to review their draft report for factual accuracy. Later in August, the HLC’s Institutional Actions Council will review the final report, and the HLC will issue an official statement regarding our accreditation status shortly thereafter.
An undertaking of this magnitude requires immense collaboration, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it possible. The Reaccreditation Task Force worked diligently for over a year to build out our assurance argument. Students, faculty, and staff helped beautify our campus during Community Day, and our facilities, public safety, kitchens, and academic affairs teams worked tirelessly to ensure a welcoming and seamless environment for our visitors.
Thank you all for your dedication, your voices, and your continued commitment to the future of Antioch College.
