2025 Alum Named Dayton Democracy Fellow
Lee Wade ’25 an audio producer at WYSO 91.3FM and a dedicated trans advocate has been named a Dayton Democracy Fellow through the Charles F. Kettering Foundation.
Wade is the creator, host, and producer of Translucent, a podcast and radio program on WYSO 91.3FM. The program is meant to connect communities and foster learning through community-based conversations with transgender and nonbinary voices.
He shared with the Charles F. Kettering foundation that while he attented Antioch College he realized that storytelling was more than a creative outlet. It was a way to connect with people through journalism and conversations about difficult topics. “Not just connecting with people, but having hard conversations and talking about the things we often like to shy away from,” he said.
Wade delivered the student address at Antioch College’s 2025 Commencement ceremony calling on his Antioch Community to be the people that invite others to raise their voices.
“Let us be the people who listen, who uplift, who create spaces where others feel seen and valued. Let us be the people who make room at the table. Let us be the ones who ask, ‘What are your pronouns?’ Let’s create spaces where people don’t have to explain why they deserve respect,” he said.
