Corinne “Cori” Joie Couture, a 1973 graduate of Antioch College, died Jan. 6, 2015, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Cori was always valiant, no matter what she was doing.
She grew up on a farm in Modesto, CA, and graduated from Verde Valle School in Sedona, AZ, before attending Antioch.
She enjoyed three successive careers, giving her talents and passion to each in turn. For several years she had a pottery studio in Oakland, CA, where she made raku pottery. Later she became the Executive Director of Impact Bay Area, teaching self-defense to hundreds of women and helping to start Impact chapters in many US cities and other countries (Japan, Switzerland, England, Australia). When she retired from Impact she set up a business as a vendor at several Bay Area farmers markets selling asparagus, melons and pistachio nuts.
In 2008 she married Faith Darling and (in total) the shared 28 joyful years.
Cori always recalled her years at Antioch as a very special experience, and maintained long distance friendships with several fellow graduates to the end of her life
