We’re going virtual for Reunion 2020!
From Alumni Awards to social events and film screenings, virtual Reunion is packed with events for every Antiochian. Reunion 2020 begins on Thursday, October 1 with events every week through Sunday, November 1.
You’ll be able to attend the usual events you’ve come to expect at Reunion through Zoom—including a State of the College address from President Tom Manley and the Winning Victories grant presentations—plus experience some exciting new twists on regular events including a performance by Grammy-winning musician Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel.
Plus, there will be a virtual silent auction in support of Antioch College students with bidding from October 1 through 1:00 PM October 31. Browse the silent auction and place your bids!

Antioch Focused Events
- Sunday, Oct 11 – Updates on Community Governance
Join former Community Manager, April Wolford ’92 and current Community Manager, Coco Gagnet ’18 for a continuation of the conversation started at Reunion 2019.
- Sunday, Oct 18 – Alumni Association Meeting & State of the College Address
Every year during Reunion, the Alumni Association hold its Annual Meeting. New members of the Alumni Board are welcomed and outgoing members are thanked for their service. It is also a time the thank alums for their continued generous support of our beloved Antioch College. Following the Annual Meeting, President Tom Manley will talk about the state of Antioch College today.
- Saturday, Oct 24 – A Commons for the Common Good
This is a discussion with Village and College leaders about current collaborations: listen to ideas that could lead to an innovative partnership for Antioch College and the Village of Yellow Springs.
- Thursday, Oct 29 – Making Whoopi, or Creative Ways to Start an Alumni Chapter
Jessie Herr ’63 and David Vincent ’65, co-chairs of the Alumni Board Chapters Committee, will host a panel discussion with leaders from active chapters. Join us to learn about how chapters can get and keep alumni engaged.
Arts & Performance
- Saturday, Oct 3 – Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel
We are delighted to announce that Ray Benson—who attended Antioch as a member of the Class of 1974 as Ray Seifert and co-founded the Grammy-Award-winning band Asleep at the Wheel—is recording a SOLO PERFORMANCE just for the Antioch Reunion 2020. Ray will attend the event, talk to the audience and provide space for a Q&A following the performance.
- Saturday, Oct 10 Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote
Join us for this screening of the film, Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote, which will be followed by a discussion with director and producer Robert Greenwald ’66.
- Sunday, Oct 11 – Louise Smith’s ’77 Performance of “Dorothy Lane”
Recently retired Associate Professor of Performance Louise Smith will be performing her latest piece “DOROTHY LANE: a travelogue.” The performance is prerecorded and Louise Smith will join us for the event to introduce the performance and for a Q&A when the performance is concluded.
- Thursday, Oct 15 – Antioch Adventure Oral History Project
Please join us to a) learn about the oral history model Antioch College uses, b) learn about this exciting project, c) discover how you can participate by sharing your story or by interviewing others!
- Saturday, Oct 17 – Julia Reichert & Jim Klein’s Early Films
Join the Antioch Community in this rare opportunity to see two of the earliest films produced and directed by Julia Reichert ’70 and Jim Klein ’72, Growing Up Female (1971), and Union Maids (1976).
- Sunday, Oct 18 – Open Mic
Hosted by Jilana Ordman ’98, this is a time for our alumni and campus communities to come together and share their poetry favorites, spoken word, music and performance pieces with the Zoom stage. Awards & Grants
- Saturday, Oct 3 – JD Dawson Awards & 2020 Winning Victories Grant Finalists
Steve Duffy ’77 will be presented with the 2020 J.D. Dawson Award recognizing significant contributions to Antioch College.
Following the presentation of the Dawson award, the finalists for the 2020 Winning Victories Grants—Amy Etoll Crossin ’01, Truth Garrett ’20, Mariah Lossing ’04, Monika Perry ’17, and Ruthie Scarpino ’08—will present their project proposals.
- Saturday, Oct 10 – Horace Mann & Arthur Morgan Award Presentations
Keith Hickman ’90 will be presented with the 2020 Horace Mann Award recognizing his contributions to win victories for humanity.
Ben London ‘89 will be presented with the 2020 Arthur Morgan Award recognizing contributions exemplifying the concept of “community” advocated by Arthur Morgan.
- Saturday, Oct 24 – Rebecca Rice & Walter Anderson Awards
Bethany Saltman ’92 will be presented with the Rebecca Rice Award recognizing achievements in profession.
Quandra Prettyman ’54 will be presented with the Walter F. Anderson Award recognizing contributions to breaking down racial and ethnic barriers.
- Sunday, Oct 25 – Winning Victories Today and Tomorrow
Join Winning Victories Grants recipients Lynn Estomin ’72, Susan Barkan ’78, Anzia Bennett ’03, and Lela Klein ’02 for an informal roundtable conversation of what they have been up to.
At the end of the conversation, the two winners of the 2020 Winning Victories Grant will be announced!
Events for the 50th Anniversary Class of 1970
- Thursday, Oct 1 – Class of 1970 Social
A social hour for members of the class of 1970 to reconnect with each other. It will be a casual happy hour style event where people can share stories, updates on their lives and reconnect with old friends.
- Sunday, Oct 17 – 50th Class Brunch with Chef Wiley ’71
Chefs Elizabeth Wiley ’71 and Kristine Hofstra ’91 will present a step-by-step virtual cooking class in which they will guide you in making the iconic Southern brunch dish “Shrimp and Grits.” While we eat, we will watch the commencement address that Julia Reichert ’70 & Steve Bognar produced for the class of 2020.
Honoring Those Who Have Passed
- Sunday, Nov 1 – Time for Remembrance
As Reunion 2020 draws to a close, we will come together to honor the members of our Antioch community whom we have lost over the last 15 months. We will read their names in silence and then share memories in a Quaker-style meeting.
- Sunday, Nov 1 – Dia Muertos Celebration

Science Themed Events
- Sunday, Oct 4 – Science Alumni Story Share
This is an opportunity for alumni to share their after-Antioch experiences with current faculty and students as well as fellow alumni in an Ignite-type presentation hosted by the Antioch College Science Affinity Group meeting during reunion. Ignite events are speedy (5 minutes or 450 words) presentations with up to 20 slides (graphics are nice).
- Sunday, Oct 4 – Science with Dr. Mario Capecchi ’61, Dr. Joan Argetsinger Steitz ’63, Dr. Eddie Chang ’71 and Rian Lawrence ’17
Join us for a panel discussion celebrating the Value of Foundational Science! These days science is under political and popular attack as never before in our lifetimes.
- Sunday, Oct 25 – Paying Forward Antioch College’s Environmental Legacy
John A. Knox ’68 and Dr. Kim Landsbergen, associate professor of Biology and Environmental Science, will host this discussion which focuses on the evolution of the Environmental movement from a wide range of diverse but isolated concerns before 1970 to the budding of Modern Environmentalism with many branches on the tree.
Social Events
- Thursday, Oct 22 – Decades Gatherings
Each of our decade groups will be assigned a Zoom “break out room” for socializing with other alumni from their era. Think of it as a big virtual tent with tables inside for alumni from different decades!
- Saturday, Oct 31 – Halloween Party
Join us for a dance party Halloween style! We’re announcing the Costume/Theme Contest well in advance so you can enjoy planning your wardrobe and decor!
