Antioch College Announces Commencement Speaker Dr. Ruha Benjamin and Exclusive Weekend Brunch
YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio – Antioch College is pleased to announce the 2026 Commencement ceremony taking place on Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 AM, featuring distinguished scholar Dr. Ruha Benjamin as keynote speaker.
Ruha Benjamin, the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University, is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work on the relationship between innovation, inequity, and justice. She is the author of influential books including Race After Technology and Viral Justice, and a leading voice on the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies.
“Dr. Ruha Benjamin’s work challenges us to think more deeply about the futures we are building. I am thrilled that we will welcome her to our campus next month to speak to our graduates as they finish their time at Antioch College and begin thinking about how they will help shape the world.”
Antioch College will host an intimate, President-led brunch featuring acclaimed Ruha Benjamin on Sunday, June 21, following the College’s Commencement ceremony that will be held on the previous day.
The gathering will convene alumni, donors, and community leaders for a conversation on collective care, social impact, and the role of institutions in shaping a more just future.
The brunch keynote, titled “What We Tend, What We Pass On: Collective Care and Creative Futures,” will extend the energy of Commencement into a deeper dialogue centered on legacy, responsibility, and social transformation.
“This gathering reflects Antioch’s enduring commitment to cultivating bold thinkers and changemakers,” said President Fernandes. “We are honored to host Dr. Benjamin and to create space for meaningful connection and shared purpose among those who believe in the power of education to transform society.”
The event is designed as both a community experience and a fundraising initiative, in honor of the Class of 2026, supporting Antioch College’s mission to prepare students for lives of purpose and impact.
