Ryley Walker is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Rockford IL, newly relocated to Los Angeles after nine years in New York City. After emerging from the 2000s Chicago noise scene, he released a string of albums combining his own intricate acoustic guitar stylings with stylistic excursions into psych-folk songwriter intimacies (2015’s Primrose Green, 2016’s Golden SingsThat Have Been Sung), masterful full-band prog composition (2021’s Course in Fable), and free improv experimentalism (collaborations with Charles Rumback, Steve Gunn, Chris Corsano, David Grubbs, and countless others). His records have appeared on labels including Dead Oceans, Drag City, Thrill Jockey, and his own Husky Pants Recordings. In addition to recording and performing his own music, he plays guitar for James K and Joanne Robertson. Darkening the Glass is his first AD 93 release.
