Position Summary

The Office of Advancement coordinates fundraising and alumni relations activities that support Antioch College’s mission and long-term sustainability. The Advancement Office seeks a dependable and detail-oriented student to serve as an Advancement Database Assistant through the Federal Work College program. This position is designed to support both the operational needs of Advancement Services and the student’s professional skill development. The Advancement Database Assistant will perform basic data entry and record maintenance while gaining hands-on experience with database systems, workplace professionalism, and the importance of accurate data in nonprofit and higher education settings. The student will work under the supervision of the Director of Advancement Services.

Learning Objectives

Through this position, the student will:

  • Develop accuracy and attention to detail in a professional work environment
  • Gain introductory experience with database systems and data entry practices
  • Learn the importance of confidentiality, data integrity, and ethical data handling
  • Build workplace skills including time management, communication, and accountability

Essential Responsibilities

  • Data Entry: Accurately enter donor and alumni information into the advancement database.
  • Data Maintenance: Update existing records, correct basic errors, and assist in identifying duplicate records.
  • Record Review: Support routine data checks and audits to help maintain accurate and reliable records.
  • Record Keeping: Organize and maintain electronic and paper files in accordance with office procedures.
  • Advancement Services Support: Assist with general office tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Office Support: Light housekeeping and workspace organization duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled at Antioch College and eligible for Federal Work College employment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Commitment to confidentiality and responsible handling of sensitive information
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to complete hours during standard office hours (8:30am – 5pm). Flexibility is possible within those parameters.
  • Physical ability to perform daily office activities, to include sitting long periods at a desk, light duty lifting, written and oral correspondence.

Environmental Considerations: Work will generally occur within a standard office environment on the 4th floor of South Hall.
