POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Antioch Kitchens seeks to support and engage the scholastic and life experience of our
community by providing quality meals of integrity, creating an environment of experiential learning
and providing attentive, caring service. We strive to support the ideals of Antioch College by
being mindful of our products, the people that produce them and the way in which they are
produced.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES) OF THE POSITION:

 Prepare student meals with attention to specific food intolerances and allergies
 Prepare meals according to the menu
 Maintains a clean and organized work station
 Practice proper food storage and labeling procedures
 Heat all items to appropriate temperature
 Set up and maintain the food service line during meal service periods
 Assist with overall cleanliness of the kitchen by following daily and weekly cleaning lists
 Safely operate standard kitchen equipment
 Oversee student workers by delegating tasks and supervising meal preparation
 Process produce from the farm
 Displays professionalism with staff and students at all times

QUALIFICATIONS:
 High School Diploma or equivalent
 Two years of food service experience as a cook
 Must be able to obtain Person in Charge certification within 30 days of hire

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

 Extensive food knowledge including intolerances and allergies
 Prior experience preparing meals for large groups
 On track with current culinary trends
 Knowledge of various cooking techniques
 Sustainability and waste prevention
 Ability to work unsupervised
 Excellent time management skills
 Creative and attention to detail

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
 Must be able to lift, carry, or move 20 pounds with or without assistance
 Must be able to stand for continuously throughout an eight hour shift
 Must be able to repeatedly bend, twist, and/or stretch in different positions for an eight hour shift
 Ability to walk moderate distances around campus periodically
