Position Summary
The Antioch College Office of Advancement coordinates fundraising and alumni relations activities that support Antioch College’s mission and long-term sustainability. The Office of Advancement is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student to join our team through the Federal Work College Program as Grants and Donor Engagement Assistant. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Grants and Donor Engagement, the Grants and Donor Engagement Assistant will develop transferable professional skills relevant to a range of career paths. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, grant research, communications, and strategic project development.
Learning Objectives
Through this position, the student will:
- Learn about the importance of philanthropy and how different sources of revenue support Antioch College
- Develop intermediate skills in donor stewardship and recognition, including professional writing skills and content creation
- Gain exposure to foundation and corporate grant opportunities and procedures
- Strengthen workplace skills including problem-solving, time management, communication, and accountability
Essential Responsibilities
- Grants and Foundation Research: Help to identify grant opportunities that align with college goals and priorities. Support with proposal creation, acknowledgement letters, and other related processes.
- Donor Recognition: Create content for donor audiences that illustrates the impacts of their support, including newsletters, emails, events, and scholarship packets.
- Mapping Belonging Project: Assist peers in Advancement student work crew utilizing ArcGIS to create interactive story maps of campus as a part of a multi-year foundation grant.
- Office Support: Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned. Light housekeeping in office spaces
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as a student at Antioch
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort working with software including Google Suite and Canva
- A positive attitude and a passion for supporting the mission and values of Antioch College
Physical Abilities
- Must be able to complete hours during standard office hours (8:30am – 5pm). Flexibility is possible within those parameters.
- Physical ability to perform daily office activities, to include sitting long periods at a desk, light duty lifting, written and oral correspondence.
Environmental Considerations: Work will generally occur within a standard office environment on the 4th floor of South Hall.
