Care for campus plant communities and encourage student volunteers to become involved in the Apothecary Garden Collective

Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

Provide care for indoor plant communities and support conservation education efforts in the regions these plants represent.
Contribute to the propagation of native plant communities across campus.

Work with volunteers to tend garden beds.
Contribute to efforts to limit invasive plants

Qualifications:

The student in this position should have a significant appreciation for and love of native plants.

They should understand the connections between plants and human wellbeing as we strive to become a campus that encourages human flourishing in a sustainable, natural environment.
They should have communication skills adequate for encouraging the involvement of community members in plant propagation efforts.

Required Physical Abilities:

Garden work
Candidates must be able to regularly bend over, lift and carry up to 30 lbs, and push a wheelbarrow.
Ability to engage in strenuous physical garden work during the hottest months of the year

Environmental Considerations:
Should enjoy time in outdoor spaces and exposure to the elements.
Possible exposure to pollen, stinging insects, poison ivy, brambles, etc.
