Social Media and Communications Intern

Position Description 

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Social Media and Communications Intern to assist with growing and managing our digital presence, particularly through Instagram and other social media channels. The intern will also help streamline our communication strategies by developing email marketing campaigns, gathering and analyzing statistics, and researching best practices from other alumni associations.

Responsibilities

  • Instagram Page Creation & Management: Launch and maintain an Instagram page dedicated to promoting events and engaging with alumni.
  • Social Media Posting: Regularly post curated content from YS school events and YSAA events on our social media platforms.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Gather and analyze social media statistics to track engagement, reach, and growth. Provide insights to improve social media strategies.
  • Event Promotion: Promote relevant events, including both curated YS school events and YSAA-specific activities, ensuring all relevant events are effectively publicized.
  • Email Marketing (MailChimp): Implement MailChimp and establish a consistent communication schedule with our email list. Develop engaging email content to keep our community informed and connected.
  • Content Strategy: Develop and propose content ideas for our communication efforts. Review and refine these ideas with the Communications Committee.
  • Best Practices Research: Research other alumni associations to identify successful communication and engagement strategies. Present recommendations for improvement.
  • Newsletter Development: Compile information on alumni achievements and activities to create a regular newsletter to be distributed to the alumni network.

Miller Fellowships are offered to the following individuals:

Students:

      • A full-time, degree-seeking student in good standing at a Greene County college or university with a preference towards an Antioch College student
      • A high school student who is a resident of Yellow Springs/Miami Township or an attendee at Yellow Springs High School; high school Miller Fellows must be 16 years old or older.
      • A resident of Yellow Springs/Miami Township under the age of 25 in a gap year before or during college or home for a vacation period
      • Students must have completed the YSCF’s Nonprofit Leadership Institute (NLI) or apply and complete the next available NLI during their employment.
      • The identified Miller Fellow can be a current employee of the nonprofit if they meet the requirements above.
