Kathy Kern Ross serves as Wellness Center Director at Antioch College, bringing more than 40
years of leadership experience across higher education, wellness and aquatics programming, and
large-scale event services. Her career reflects a unique blend of student development, recreation
management, and community engagement, all of which form her holistic approach to community
wellness.
Kathy earned her B.A. from Muskingum University, where she double majored in Psychology
and Sociology with a minor in Theatre. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Higher
Education Administration, specializing in Student Personnel Services, at Ohio University. Her
academic background laid the foundation for a career centered on student life, leadership
development, and experiential learning.
Kathy’s professional journey includes significant experience in campus recreation and facilities
management. In her past College positions she has overseen Operations and Facilities Student
Affairs, Student Activities, Media Services and Recreational Programming Kathy also spent
many years working within YMCA organizations, including a leadership role at YMCA Camp
Hi-Rock, where she managed and directed a 200-acre waterfront property. There, she supervised
large-scale camp waterfront operations and supervised a large diverse staff. Kathy, a certified
swimming pool operator and lifeguard also has extensive background in Pool and Spa
operations.
Throughout her career, Kathy has coordinated thousands of events, festivals, and
conferences nationwide, while also contributing to nonprofit management and arts programming
initiatives. At Antioch College, Kathy integrates her diverse background to foster an inclusive
wellness environment. Her career reflects a lifelong commitment to enriching communities
through creativity, leadership, and service.
