Joseph “Joe” Larue Marcum ’47, born July 2, 1923, in Hamilton, OH, passed away at age 97 on Sept. 5, 2020.
He had served as Chairman and CEO for Ohio Casualty Corp — he started as an underwriting trainee at Ohio Casualty and rose through the ranks.
He holds a BA in Business Administration from Antioch College; he first enrolled at Antioch in 1941, withdrew in 1943 for military service and was re-admitted in 1946. He served on the Antioch College Alumni Board (1959-60).
Joe Marcum was listed among “Corporate America’s Most Powerful People” in the May 29, 1989 issue of Forbes magazine.
He married Sarah Jane Sloneker Marcum on March 7, 1944, who predeceased him in 2018.
