Shirley Bieri, 98, of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2023. She was born in Rochester, NY and attended Antioch College. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Dr. John (Jack) G. Bieri, parents Harry and Tillie Bloch, and brothers M. Richard and Lee Bloch.

She is survived by her loving children Roger Bieri (Terry Glaser) of San Diego, CA, Barbara Hollis (Darrell) of Montgomery Village, MD and Nancy Bieri (John Fehringer) of Silver Spring, MD; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren Christine Weeda Chernyakov (Paul) of Bethesda, MD, and children Andrew, Kate and Ethan; Audrey Parker, of Austin, TX, and sons Christopher and Jack French; granddaughter Angela Weeda Weller (Jeff) of Montgomery Village, MD, and grandson Richard Parker of Danbury, NH. She and Jack had a home in New London, New Hampshire for 18 years and was the place for their family to gather and share their lives. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth and Roberta Bloch, a dear brother-in-law, Dr. James Bieri (Sandra), and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In Rochester, she was known as a vocalist and choral member at The Eastman School. Music was a lifelong, vital part of her life. She danced for 86 years and was with her last class in her 90th year.

She was a committed Humanist and supported all efforts of others who worked towards justice for all people.

She will be remembered for her brightness and smiles that brought joy to everyone she met. Her family all say they learned kindness and love from her.
