Daniel Sady was born on July 8, 1948, to his parents Emil and
Rachel. He was followed by his two younger brothers, Stephen and
Nathan. Danny, as his brothers called him, loved being an older brother
and enjoyed bossing around his little brothers when his parents left
him in charge. Dan’s early years up through fourth grade were lived
with his family in a small two-story house in Takoma Park, MD. He
had a happy childhood and spent countless hours playing outdoors
in the nearby creek and park. Jumping from root to root of a large
tree in their front yard, a young Dan often considered the purpose
of his life. After fourth grade, he moved to Dobbs Ferry, just outside
of New York City, with his family as his father Emil began work at
the United Nations. The next year they moved again to Hastingson-Hudson, NY, where he and his brothers would play tennis at the
courts across the street from their house. In seventh grade Dan first
prayed to receive the Lord Jesus alone in his room after receiving
a gospel tract. He was ecstatic and gave himself to the Lord, but was
young and had no one to guide him on this path and eventually
denied this experience.
As he began college in the late 60s, it was a tumultuous time in
America with wars and social unrest, and Dan often asked himself
what was the purpose and meaning of his life. It was here that the
Lord sovereignly arranged for him to meet his future wife, Christa.
Dan often described the moment when he met her, hearing the clicking of wooden clogs behind him and having a deep sense that that
person would be his wife! He turned around and met a Christian
woman named Christa Middleton. After Dan graduated college, he
began to seek God again in a more meaningful way. Soon after, he
was invited to a gospel meeting. That night, in tears he repented,
forsaking his past manner of life and consecrated himself to God
in an absolute way. Christa had moved to Houston, Texas, to finish
school and started meeting with the church in Houston, after attending a Christian conference in Los Angeles. Dan visited her with the
hopes of marrying her. Dan started to meet with the church in Houston too, and they were married in July 1972.
Dan went on to receive his Masters in Public Administration at
New York University. As a couple, they served in the church in New
York City with others to shepherd and pray for the young people.
