Wendy Lanner Obituary
Wendy Lanner (Rossen) passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, in Arlington, Virginia. Born in New York to Arthur and Ruth (nee: Storch) Lanner, Wendy grew up outside Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a longtime resident of Los Angeles. She attended Antioch College (’68) and later obtained her nursing degree from Pace University. Wendy’s time at Antioch was especially important to her, and in later years she remained an active member of the Antioch College alumni association.
Wendy was a dedicated nurse who cared deeply for her patients, some of whom became lifelong friends. She began her career caring for newborn babies in the nursery at UCLA and at Santa Monica Hospital. Later, she became a clinical trials administrator at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Wendy was a loving mother who took great pride in her children’s accomplishments. She loved animals and was always willing to take in a neighborhood stray. She was an avid collector of antiques, cookbooks, and loved thrifting. She regularly put others before herself and never wanted to be a bother, even throughout her illness at the end of her life.
Wendy is survived by her children, Benjamin Robert and Daniel Raphael Rossen; her grandchildren, Aaron, Elizabeth, and Alice; and her brothers, David and Gerald Lanner.
There will be a celebration of life to be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
