Dr. Timothy Kelly Fitzpatrick
1954 – 2024
Weston, VT
Timothy Kelly Fitzpatrick, MD, 69, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his wife, Martha Moriarty, and daughter, Kathleen (Katie), at his side. Timothy (Tim) was born in Niagara, NY, son of James and Patricia (Kelly) Fitzpatrick. He was raised in Springfield, MA and a graduate of the Wilbraham & Monson Academy. He graduated from Antioch College and then received his M.D. from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield, MA before retiring to Weston, VT.
Tim practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 30 years in Springfield, MA. He had the unique opportunity to practice with his father and Tim cherished that time immensely. Beloved by all who knew him, Tim’s professional, caring, and sensitive demeanor left a lasting impact on his family, friends, nurses, office colleagues and partners, and countless patients and newborn babies that he cared for during his career.
Known for his dry wit and impish sense of humor, Tim had an adventurous streak which showed early as a teenager with his hitchhiking trips across country to rock climb. He cultivated a variety of diverse pursuits with an excitement and eagerness to experience, explore and learn. He loved nature and spending time hiking, skiing, scuba diving, and cycling with family and friends throughout the US and Europe. Tim had a passion for music and was an accomplished guitarist who never stopped working to develop his unique talent. But most of all, Tim loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends across the globe, sharing love and laughter together.
Throughout his entire life, he drew great comfort and inspiration from his Catholic faith which shaped his dedication to give back to his community and fostered a strong sense of purpose in his career. The family is especially grateful to Bayada Hospice and the loving and compassionate care that Hanna, Lucy, and Jenny provided.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Moriarty and daughter Kathleen Moriarty-Fitzpatrick, his siblings, Mary Kay Carbone, of Rockport, MA, Dr. Maureen Ann Fitzpatrick, of Medford, MA, Stacy Fitzpatrick, of South Portland, ME, Kelly Anne Fitzpatrick-Cary, of Springfield, and James Michael Fitzpatrick, of Longmeadow;
