Russell Bimber was born on March 26, 1929. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the army at age 17. After serving in in Korea, he married Constance Dowling and graduated from Antioch College in 1952 with a B.S. in Chemistry. They moved to Painesville and raised three children. Russ earned an M.S. in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in 1962.During his career he was awarded 23 patents for agrichemicals. In 1969, he became one of the founding members of CHEMTREC. Russ served on civilian oversight boards for nuclear power safety, civil defense, and environmental matters.Russ passed on September 21, 2024, at age 95 of complications from a respiratory infection. He is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
