In Loving Memory of Graham Wisner
1950 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Graham Wisner, age 74, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on June 15, 1950 in Washington DC, Graham was the beloved youngest son of Frank Gardiner Wisner and Mary Ellis Knowles. He grew up in Washington DC and was educated at St Albans, St Paul’s and Antioch College. He received a law degree from Georgetown University School of Law. He practiced law in Washington at several firms notably Squire Patton Boggs.
Graham was a devoted husband and father. He was an idealist at heart with an adventurous spirit, quick wit a passion for history, painting, travel, and current affairs. He was known for his charm, sense of humor, and he touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Though Alzheimer’s disease took its toll in his last year, Graham’s essence remained a source of inspiration. His family will always remember his warmth, resilience, and the light he brought into their lives.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Rania Hanano; his stepdaughter, Tayma Alassar; his siblings, Ambassador Frank G. Wisner and Ellis Wisner; his nieces and nephews, Sabrina Wisner, David Wisner, Bryan Wisner, Olivier Sarkozy, Caroline Sarkozy, Phoebe Backler, and Isaac Hazard. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Poet’s Walk, Warrenton, for their compassionate care during Graham’s final days.
A celebration of Graham’s life will be held in the spring at a time and location to be announced.
