Edward Peter Alepra, 88, of Erie, Illinois, died Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Erie. Visitation will be at 12:30, prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Public Library, the Anne Alepra Media Center at the Erie High School, St. Ambrose Catholic Church, or Morrison Sportsman’s Club. Ed was born on August 12, 1937, in Gillespie, Illinois, the son of Pete and Magdeline Pianfetti Alepra. He married Anne Cecelia Murphy in 1963 in Wyandotte, MI. She preceded him in death in 2000. Ed later married Joan Scott in 2004 in Geneseo, IL. He attended McKendree College and graduated from Blackburn College. Later, he studied at Antioch College in Ohio, the University of Iowa, and at Western Illinois. He served our country in the Army Reserves. Ed taught in Carpentersville, District 300 (Algonquin), and then in Erie, IL. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for many years, the Erie Lions, and later the Erie Rotary Club. He also served on the Erie Township Board and the Whiteside County Health Department. An avid hunter and fisherman, Ed enjoyed his numerous bird dogs and liked training them, as well as trap shooting and reloading ammunition. He loved his family dearly and was passionate about following his grandchildren’s interests. Ed is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Peter (Meg) Alepra, Cedar Rapids, IA, Katherine (Al) Ziskovsky, Swisher, IA, Michael Alepra, Swisher, IA, Paul (Mary) Alepra, Kewanee; stepsons, Bradley Scott, Mountain Home, AR, John (Michelle) Scott, Flippin, AR, and David (Leslie) Scott, Watseka, IL, siblings, Ken (Sherry) Alepra, Gillespie, IL, brother-in-law, Norm Emmons, Benld, IL; grandchildren, Anthony and Audrey Alepra, Magdeline and Jeremiah (Mandey Lund) Ziskovsky, Madeline and David Alepra, a great grandson due in January, twenty-six step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
