Sandra Khan Obituary
Sandra Dolge Khan of North Syracuse made her transition on 5/22/25. She was predeceased by her husband Mohammed Laiquddin Khan in 2016 and sister Charliss Dolge in 2015. She is survived by her sons Jeffrey Khan and Michael Khan, grandchildren Charlene (Christopher) Masten, Rachel Khan, and Stephen Khan, great grandchildren Natalie Masten and Evan Masten, daughter-in-law Andrea Khan-Victory, and the children of her beloved late cousin Barbara Dolge Sloan; Richard Sloan, Christopher Sloan, Diana Keene, and Janet Reilly.
Sandy was born in Dolgeville, NY to Charles and Frances Dolge. She attended Antioch College and Ohio State University earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. She enjoyed 20 years as a teacher and daycare director in Columbus, Ohio and Syracuse. She also spent 7 years teaching in a child developmental research and demonstration project associated with Syracuse University. Following her retirement from teaching, she was the office manager for Drs. Thomas and Timothy Sweet.
Sandy was an eager traveler visiting Russia, Switzerland, Italy, Hawaii, and living several months in India as well as Kashmir. She was a long time member of Unity Church. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Center for Spiritual and Cultural Unity in Syracuse and Fayetteville, where she was a founding board member and bookstore manager. She was a member of the Anthroposophical Society of America and participated in the local Rudolf Steiner Study Group.
Sandy was also a member of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle, the oldest book club in America founded in 1878. For several summers, Sandy attended programs at the Chautauqua Institute. With her cherished friend, Betty Saleem, she enjoyed over 30 years attending the former Syracuse Symphony, relishing their exceptional programs and musicianship. In recent years, she was invigorated by the many courses offered by Oasis Senior Education Program.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery with Sears Middleton Mathewson Funeral Home. Sandy may be remembered through gifts to the United Nations Children’s Fund (www.unicefusa. org), Upstate Oasis (upstate.oasisnet.org/donate/), and CNY SPCA (chyspca.org/donate.).
